Mass Spectrometry Facility
The mission of the School of Pharmacy Mass Spectrometry/Proteomic Facility is to accelerate discovery by giving investigators on campus access to cutting edge technologies in mass spectrometry and proteomics. This facility provides state-of-the-art instrumentation to the School of Pharmacy and the surrounding research community. This Facility also provides researchers the opportunity and access to very sophisticated experiments by working closely in a true collaborative effort between faculty, students and staff.
Facility at HSF II is an interdisciplinary unit aimed at serving faculty from the schools of Dentistry, Medicine and Pharmacy. This facility also serves researchers from other universities and industries within and outside of Maryland.
The laboratory is equipped to offer a broad range of support services with two state-of-the-art mass spectrometers. We have recently introduced our services to include Proteomic Analysis. The Director for Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Facility is Dr. Peter Swaan supporting biological application to mass spectrometry. Projects for the facility have to be discussed and coordinated through him. A lab manager supports the training and analysis aspects to meet the research needs of our users.
