Ralph Shangraw/Noxell Endowed Chair in Industrial Pharmacy and Pharmaceutics

The University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy is recruiting for The Ralph Shangraw/Noxell Endowed Chair in Industrial Pharmacy and Pharmaceutics; The Shangraw Chair is an endowed professorship position within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.  The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a research-intensive department dedicated to teaching, research and service.  The Shangraw Chair is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position in the area of pharmaceutical technology. 

A successful candidate must have credentials at the Full Professor level; senior level Associate Professors and individuals with equivalent industrial experience are welcome to apply.  The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong, extramurally funded research program and to provide instruction to students in both the professional and graduate programs.  The emphasis of his or her research should be in the broad area of pharmaceutical technology, drug delivery systems and nanotechnology.  Acceptable areas of research include but are not limited to, formulation development, particle technology, novel drug delivery systems and formulation of nanoparticles and evaluation or pharmaceutical processing.

Many opportunities exist for collaboration within the department, campus, and region, such as the campus Center for Nanomedicine and numerous local companies. The University of Maryland is ideally located near federal agencies (e.g. FDA, NIH, NIST, NSF) and pharmaceutical firms. A background in the pharmaceutical sciences is preferred but not required.
