Pediatrics & Asthma

The Pediatric Ambulatory Center located in the University of Maryland School of Nursing is a thriving multidisciplinary environment for Assistant Professor Jill A. Morgan, PharmD, and her residents. The clinic meets the primary care needs of children newborn to 18 years of age primarily from the communities adjacent to the campus. Providers conduct well-baby check ups, treat urgent problems and attend to chronic health conditions. Morgan contributes a unique base of knowledge to the healthcare team--knowledge of patient and pharmacotherapy factors which may improve or impede treatment effectiveness. With insight into the patient and caregiver’s perceptions of the disease, Morgan skillfully educates the patients and their families on the progression of the disease and the impact of nonadherence on their symptoms and problems. As a team member, she participates in treatment decisions, including changes in drug therapy and helps to prepare the care plan. With her residents, Morgan provides information and patient/caregiver support in self-management and proper administration of certain prescription and over-the-counter drugs. In addition to serving as director of the PPS Pediatric Residency, Morgan is the Associate Dean for Student Affairs for the School of Pharmacy.
