Transplantation/Solid Organ Pharmacy
Newly established program concentrated in kidney, pancreas and liver transplant, candidate will play a vital role in the care of abdominal organ transplant patients within the institution through an established collaborative practice agreement, with electives on the heart/ lung transplant services. Participation in multi-disciplinary patient care rounds (surgical and medical), transplant candidate selection committees, post-transplant ambulatory care clinic, and educational responsibilities include precepting pharmacy practice residents in addition to experiential and didactic teaching provided through the University Of Maryland School Of Pharmacy. Research involvement in investigator initiated and industry sponsored research projects.
The University of Maryland Medical Center is comprised of the University Hospital, Marlene and Stewart Greenbaum Cancer Center, R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The department offers clinical services in transplantation, critical care, neurology/ neurosurgery, adult medicine, infectious diseases, hematology/ oncology, cardiology/ CT surgery, pediatrics and ambulatory care. The division of transplantation performs an average of 250 kidneys (20% living donor), 30 pancreases and 40 liver transplants per year, with five clinical specialists dedicated to the services.
Requirements
PharmD degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, successful completion of a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency, eligible for Maryland licensure (acquired within first 60 days of program). Completed application with curriculum vitae and three letters of recommendation.
