Fellowship in Instructional Design and Evaluation
This Fellowship is a structured but highly individualized full-time 2-year program intended to develop pharmacists with advanced clinical training to become educational scholars (i.e. able to independently engage in the scholarship of teaching). The fellow will earn a Masters Degree in Instructional Systems Development from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) while simultaneously engaging in a series of scholarly projects at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. The nature of these projects will be based on the fellow's scholarly interests, and the perceived needs of the department and school with guidance from the program faculty.
The School of Pharmacy will serve as "the laboratory" in which the fellow will have opportunities to formally assess instructional needs and gaps as well as design (or re-design), develop, implement, and evaluate units of instruction in collaboration with the faculty. The fellow is required to design, implement, and evaluate at least one major hypothesis-driven instructional project that is written and defended in a manner equivalent to a Master's thesis. The results of the project will be submitted for publication in a peer reviewed journal.
