Critical Care Pharmacy Practice Residency
The critical care pharmacy practice residency is a one-year program designed to train the pharmacy practitioner to practice pharmaceutical care in a variety of critical care settings. This specialized residency program will allow the resident to achieve the following specific outcomes at the completion of the program:
- Provide pharmaceutical care to critically ill patients in any acute care environment
- Educate others
- Be committed to lifelong learning and the profession
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- Demonstrate research skills
Learning Experiences
The University of Maryland Medical Center will serve as the primary site for the training year. The program also maintains relationships with other area healthcare teaching facilities for some elective rotations.

| Trauma Surgery | 4 weeks |
| Cardio SICU | 6 weeks |
| Infectious Disease | 4 weeks |
| Transplant Surgery | 4 weeks |
| Elective rotations* | 8 weeks |
Elective rotations include: Toxicology, Pediatric ICU (PICU/NICU), Neuro ICU, Emergency medicine, ViSICU (e-ICU) and Introduction to Research. You may repeat any of the core rotations.
