Pharmacy Practice with an Emphasis in Community Care
The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy offers a one-year pharmacy practice residency with an emphasis in community pharmacy practice. The resident will gain a variety of patient care, research and teaching experiences in an innovative curriculum. The University of Maryland Community Pharmacy Residency Program is an important response to changes in health care and developed through partnerships between academia and community pharmacies.
This residency is in partnership with one chain pharmacy and one independent pharmacy, allowing residents the opportunity to gain experience in the design, development, implementation and evaluations of disease state management program development, implementation and evaluation, as well as innovative drug dispensing systems. Residents gain insights on management issues affecting the implementation of patient care services in the chain pharmacy setting. In addition, the resident participates in patient care activities at selected ambulatory care clinics. This residency is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
