Research focus is clinical toxicology and epidemiology of poisoning utilizing data from the Maryland Poison Center , the American Association of Poison Control Centers and/or national vital statistics to explore various areas of interest including overdoses with newly marketed drugs, and to explore poisoning in special populations such as adolescents or the elderly. Another focus area is the treatment of poisoning with emphasis on GI decontamination, including activated charcoal. Methods include in-vitro studies, human volunteer studies and observational studies (retrospective or prospective) in overdose patients.
