ProfessorPractice and Research Interests: My practice interest areas are in the ambulatory care and community pharmacy practice sites. This includes the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative practice models in these settings. Of particular interest is the development and evaluation of disease state management based in the community pharmacy. My research activities focus on the evaluation of the impact of these types of programs in the clinical, economic and humanistic outcomes of patients, expansion of community pharmacists’ clinical roles and overall improvement in health care delivery. Currently I am working with a chain drug store implementing programs and evaluating their impact. We have developed disease state management programs in the area of diabetes, asthma, hyperlipidemia and others. Other areas of interest include minority health issues, cultural competence in health care delivery and Hispanic health issues.
