Dr. Sturpe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000, completed an ASHP-accredited harmacy Practice residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2001, and completed a specialty residency in Family Medicine at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy/Mercy Family Medicine in 2002. Currently, Dr. Sturpe is enrolled as a Master’s student in an Instructional Systems Development program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Along with her faculty duties, Dr. Sturpe serves as Director of the School of Pharmacy’s PGY2 Ambulatory Care residency program.
Dr. Sturpe currently maintains an active ambulatory care practice through work at the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Antithrombosis Clinic and the University of Maryland, College Park Student Health Center. In addition to her experiential teaching requirements, Dr. Sturpe teaches in multiple areas of the didactic curriculum — including cardiovascular, renal, and endocrine topics. Dr. Sturpe is also the coordinator for a popular elective course in Women’s Health. She was voted Teacher of the Year in 2005 and Mentor of the Year in 2006.
Dr. Sturpe is an author for Pharmacotherapy (Endometriosis) and Pharmacotherapy Principles and Practice (Pregnancy and Lactation: Therapeutic Considerations). Her active research endeavors focus in the arenas of women’s health and innovative educational techniques.
