David S. Roffman, PharmD, BCPS/Cardiology is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science. Dr. Roffman earned his BS in Zoology in 1967 at the University of Maryland, College Park; BS in Pharmacy in 1970, PharmD in 1973, and a certificate of Residency in Clinical Pharmacy from the from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 1973. He has served on the faculty at the School of Pharmacy since that time. He instituted the first cardiovascular pharmacotherapy specialty practice in the State of Maryland, and has been the Therapeutic Consultant in the Cardiac Care Unit at the University of Maryland Medical System for more than 25 years. In addition, Dr. Roffman has maintained a primary care practice in various ambulatory care clinics (currently Medication Management Clinic) at the Baltimore Veterans Administration Medical Center. Dr. Roffman has received the “Teacher of the Year” award from both the faculty of the School of Pharmacy, and on three occasions from the students in the graduating class. He was one of the first two recipients of the Dean’s Distinguished Educator Program at the School of Pharmacy. Dr. Roffman’s educational research interest focus on the development and assessment of clinical thinking skills.
