Centers at the School of Pharmacy provide public education, conduct research, and link clinical and academic activities to help strengthen the public health infrastructure across the State of Maryland. While their areas of expertise vary, their common goal is to help provide quality health care and training to improve the health of the citizens of the state and across the nation.
Center for Drug Safety
This Center guides and inspires research and scholarship in pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety, in order to improve public health.
Center on Drugs and Public Policy
This Center conducts research on major drug policy issues, organizes conferences and workshops and serve as a consultant on drug issues to organizations in the public and private sectors.
Computer Aided Drug Design Center
The CADD Center facilitates collaboration between scientists in the computational, chemical and biological sciences with the goal of transitioning discoveries in the basic sciences into novel therapeutic agents.
Maryland Poison Center
One of 70 poison centers throughout the country, its mission is to decrease the cost and complexity of poisoning and overdose care while maintaining and/or improving patient outcomes. The Center receives more than 60,000 calls per year, from the routine to the life threatening.
Center for Nanomedicine and Cellular Delivery
The goal of the Center for Nanomedicine and Cellular Delivery is to create a multidisciplinary research environment that will provide expertise and foster collaborations for the design, development and translation into clinic of nanosystems for use as therapeutic and diagnostic purposes.
Peter Lamy Center on Drug Therapy and Aging
The Center serves as the focal point of education and outreach programs about the social and psychological aspects of drug use among the elderly and administers the Elder-Health Program for pharmacy students and retired pharmacists.
Pharmaceutical Research Computing
PRC’s mission is to provide research support for faculty, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and other researchers by meeting their data management and analysis needs.
Center for Innovative Pharmacy Solutions
Develops and tests sustainable models of care involving pharmacists in community, institutional and multidisciplinary settings.
Clinical Pharmacology Unit
Providing services to university investigators and the pharmaceutical industry based on a fee schedule.
