Transfer Admissions Procedures
 

The School reserves the right to make changes in requirements for admission, curriculum, standards for advancement and graduation, fees, and rules and regulations.

The School may accept transfer students who have a valid reason for requesting a transfer. The Admissions Committee will determine the year transfer students will be placed in the PharmD program. Transfer students are only admitted to the fall semester.  

Transfer applicants are those who are currently enrolled in a  professional pharmacy program at an accredited school or college of pharmacy. Transfer applicants must be in good academic standing at the institutions they are currently attending.

To apply to the School of Pharmacy, follow the application procedure below:

To the School of Pharmacy, transfer applicants must

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in current pharmacy coursework
  • Submit a list of courses currently enrolled
  • Submit a letter stating the reason for transferring 
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from a pharmacy faculty
  • Complete and return the application & $100 fee, to the Student Affairs Office, found at this link (Do not apply to PharmCAS.) by the application deadline.
  • Submit an official copy of all transcripts from the pharmacy school currently enrolled and all post-secondary institutions attended.
  • Submit results of the PCAT (if previously taken).  If your current school did not require the PCAT, then it is not necessary for you to take it.
  • Complete the Supplemental Application on-line, include the non-refundable $30.00 application fee. (See below for details.) On the application:
  • Enter the code TRANSFER as your PharmCAS Identification Number.
  • Enter the date you complete the application as the PharmCAS Application Completion Date.
    After you have completed and submitted your supplemental application by the deadline, send the check or money order  --  made payable to The University of Maryland  --  in the amount of $30.00 to:

  • Complete the Maryland Residency Form if you are eligible for in-state status. Mail the form to the Student Affairs Office at the address above. More information about the form is located at this link:  Office of the Registrar.
  • Accept an offer to interview and attend an interview, at the School, scheduled by the Admissions Committee.
