Fall 2009 Admissions Procedures
The School reserves the right to make changes in requirements for admission, curriculum, standards for advancement and graduation, fees, and rules and regulations.
Each year a growing number of prospective students apply to the School of Pharmacy. The School admits 160 new students each year to the incoming class. To apply to the School, please follow the procedure below. Also, check deadlines at the "deadline" link below. Wondering if your are a legacy? The Alumni Legacy Policy lists the criteria established by the Admissions Committee.
Step 1 | Complete 65 credit hours of pre-pharmacy coursework. (Chemistry and Biology courses must have been taken within 5 years of admission, the remaining courses must be within 10 years.) |
| Step 2 | Have a minimum GPA of 2.5. |
| Step 3 | Complete an application via PharmCAS by September 5, 2008 for early decision, and December 1, 2008 for all others. |
| Step 4 | Submit transcript(s), PCAT scores, and 3 letters of references to PharmCAS. |
| Step 5 | Complete Supplemental Application on-line, include the non-refundable $30.00 application fee. (See below for details.) After you have completed and submitted your supplemental application online send only the check or money order -- made payable to The University of Maryland -- in the amount of $30.00. Both the Supplemental Application and the fee must be received by the deadline. |
| Step 6 | Complete the Maryland Residency Form if you are eligible for in-state status. Mail the form to the Student Affairs Office at the address below. More information about the form is located at this link: Office of the Registrar. |
| Step 7 | Accept an offer to interview and attend an interview, at the School, scheduled by the Admissions Committee. |
| Step 8 | Once you receive an offer of acceptance an $800 deposit will be required to hold your spot. Please plan your finances in advance as ABSOLUTELY NO EXTENSIONS will be allowed. If you are unable to pay your deposit by the deadline, your spot will be offered to the next person on the waitlist. If you still want to attend the UMB School of Pharmacy, you will be put at the top of the waitlist and offered the next available opening AFTER receiving the full $800 deposit. |

Note: The admissions committee will only review completed applications. PCAT scores, letters of recommendations and transcripts must be submitted directly to PharmCAS, these documents will not be accepted in the admissions office. It is your responsibility to follow-up with PharmCAS to ensure your application is complete. The admissions committee will not be contacting you for missing information. Applications containing partial documentation will not be reviewed. All materials are due by December 1st, 2008.
The supplemental application must be completed on the University of Maryland’s School of Pharmacy website and the $30 application fee sent to Student Affairs Office University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
