PharmD Admissions

Completing a PharmCAS Application

PharmCAS is a centralized way to apply to many schools of pharmacy across the United States. Almost all the information our admissions committee needs from you in order to make a decision is covered by PharmCAS. In order to be considered by the School of Pharmacy, you must submit to PharmCAS:

  • An official academic transcript
  • PCAT scores
  • Three letters of reference from faculty or work supervisors

The School of Pharmacy will not directly accept any of these items. You must submit them to PharmCAS, then indicate in PharmCAS that your application should be sent to the School of Pharmacy. Our admissions committee will not contact you regarding missing information in your PharmCAS application. It is your responsibility to ensure your application is complete.

You may submit these items in any order to PharmCAS, but you must complete this step by January 5, 2010 in order to be considered for admission for Fall 2010. Early decision applicants must complete this step by September 1, 2009.

All applicants are considered at the same time. There is no advantage in submitting your PharmCAS application earlier than other applicants.

About the PCAT

The latest PCAT accepted for Fall 2010 is October 2009.  If you have not taken a PCAT by then your application will not be considered by the School of Pharmacy. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule.

If you are an early decision applicant, the last exam accepted is the PCAT in August.  Even though your scores will be received by PharmCAS after the September 1 deadline this exam is accepted. Please indicate in your PharmCAS application that you are taking the PCAT in August.

When you take the PCAT exam, it's important that you indicate to Harcourt that your scores be sent to PharmCAS, not the School of Pharmacy. You may take the PCAT as many times as you like before the deadline; our admissions committee will look at your highest PCAT score based on composite percentage.  PCAT scores considered have a high composite percentile score with good percentile scores in the biology and chemistry components.
