Tutoring

The purpose of the tutoring program is to provide a learning resource to PharmD students. Tutoring services are designed to assist the learning for PharmD students who may have some difficulty in a course. Tutors are not expected to teach or re-teach course material.

Tutoring is provided by students who have excelled in the areas they currently tutor in. Tutors are PharmD students and/or graduate students.

Baltimore Campus

Requesting A Tutor

Students at the Baltimore campus can request a tutor by downloading and completing the Agreement to Accept Tutoring Form. (A copy can also be picked up from the carousel in the Student Affairs Office, 722PH.) Take the completed form to 722PH. A tutor will be assigned. Usually, you will receive notice of the assignment by E-mail.

Becoming A Tutor

To become a tutor, complete one of the following tutoring contracts:

Return the form to the Director of Student Services, 722PH. You will not be assigned students to tutor until you submit a signed contract. General tutors get paid a stipend. Tutors for Immunology and Microbiology tutor according to terms specified by the course master.

Shady Grove Campus

Students at the Shady Grove campus can request a tutor by downloading and completing the Agreement to Accept Tutoring Form (see form below). Take the completed form to Office Manager, Building 1, Room 106.

Becoming A Tutor

Shady Grove students who wish to tutor Immunoloogy and/or Microbiology/Antibiotics must follow the procedure above. To become a tutor, complete the following tutoring contract:

Tutoring via Webconferencing

The School of Pharmacy has set up webconferencing software and equipment to allow tutoring to occur across our two campuses. In order to use this, students must make arrangements ahead of time.

Tips for Successful Tutoring

Students requesting tutoring services are expected to:

  • Have a text book for the course.
  • Prepare questions ahead of time for the tutoring session.
  • Be on time for the tutoring session.
