Registering in SURFS

Once you've submitted a signed Plan of Study to Student Affairs, you may officially register for your courses in SURFS. You can't go into SURFS immediately after submitting your plan of study, however. This is staggered so that upperclassmen get first preference -- so that they are certain to get any classes they need to graduate.

SURFS registration is first-come, first-serve. It begins on 6 AM on the first day it is available to you, and SURFS shuts down for maintenance each night from 11:30 PM to 3:30 AM.

Here's a short summary of how to add a course in SURFS:

  • Log into SURFS and choose Student Services and Financial Aid.
  • Choose Registration, then Select Term.
  • Select the semester of the course. Spring 2010 is coded as 201002.
  • Choose Add/Drop Courses and find the Add Class section.
  • Enter the CRN from your plan of study for the course.
  • Click Submit Changes.

You must register for Spring 2010 courses in SURFS by December 11, 2009. Once you do, you're ready for the semester.
