Virtual Private Network Client
What is VPN?
VPN allows you to connect to a private network (i.e. UMB) using the public Internet. VPN requires high-speed Internet access such as Comcast Cable, Verizon DSL, an Internet cafe, etc...Once high-speed Internet access has been established, the VPN client can be used to connect to the School of Pharmacy network over an encrypted channel.
How can I use the VPN?
The VPN client uses your current School of Pharmacy username and password, so there are no additional credentials to remember. Once connected to the VPN you can use it to check e-mail, access the M drive, your network My Documents folder, and all other School of Pharmacy network resources.
What are the minimum requirements?
- An existing high-speed Internet connection (Comcast, Verizon DSL, an Internet cafe, etc...)
- Up-to-date virus software
- Microsoft Office Professional
How can I request VPN access?
- Send an email to the SOP Helpdesk (help@rx.umaryland.edu) to request VPN account activation.
- Before your account is activated, you may download and install the VPN client (see below), but you will need to contact the SOP helpdesk in order to activate your VPN connection.
